The summer months bring a lot of variety to the type of music I listen to. Usually, during school I like to listen to calming music as well as country to kind of stay focused and upbeat during finals weeks. But, in the summer, I like to switch it up a little bit, with podcasts and with some music that doesn't necessarily fit my mold but still is really interesting! Here are my top picks for the month.

Girl Boss Radio with Sophia Amaruso

I just started getting into this one, but it's been amazing. It's a podcast by Sophia Amaruso, as the title suggests. She's the founder of Nasty Gal, but really pushes boundaries in this podcast. She interviews women who've made their mark in society, basically getting advice from women from along their journey. Her first episode featured Charlize Theron, but features other women, like Kay Cannon (a screenwriter), Sloan Crosley (an author), and Whitney Wolfe (a CEO). This has been such a huge confidence booster for me, so I 10/10 recommend this one if you're looking for something to kind of empower women. You can listen to her on Spotify and on iTunes podcasts.

Monsune

This guy, is probably one of my favorite artists from the past few months. Right now, he only has one single out called "Nothing in Return," but I'm in love with it. There's something about the acoustics of this song that are so great to fall asleep to as well as listen to on a chill night. Plus, the music video is pretty out there. He's got the song on Spotify, but I suggest you listen to it with the video first, on YouTube.

Motivation Mix by Spotify

As you'll find out, I've been a workout junkie for the past few weeks and plan on staying that way. Unfortunately, I do need music to stay motivated, and this playlist just really did that for me. I like to switch it up between running and erging (rowing) and lifting, and this playlist really covers everything to keep me motivated even when I'm trying to max out when I lift. I like to listen to this one specifically when I run because it's got some good beats to keep a rhythm, so I definitely recommend it. It's a lot of trendy songs, but a lot of remixes of them as well so you don't feel like you're humming every song.

Those are my top picks for June! Over the next few months I'll get some more tunes and podcasts to you, but take a listen, fall in love, and let me know what you think!
